Scholarships are a great way to make your studies more affordable, enabling you to concentrate on your academic program without the added stress of tuition and living expenses.

Here's a list of scholarships you can apply for if you'd like to get a Bachelor's in the UK as an international student:

University scholarships

University of Dundee Scholarships

Ranked within the top 250 universities in the world, the University of Dundee offers a wide range of scholarships for international students. Two of these are:

Global Excellence Scholarship

  • Scholarship award: €7,000 per year
  • Field of study: various (check the )
  • Scholarship requirements:
    • Must have submitted an application to study at the University of Dundee and have received an offer for a full-time, on-campus course
    • Undergraduate grades equivalent to BBB at A-Level
    • Must be required to pay international fees (not domestic)
    • Must not hold any other scholarships from the University of Dundee

Global Citizenship Scholarship

  • Scholarship award: €5,800 per year
  • Field of study: various (check )
  • Scholarship requirements:
    • Align with the University of Dundee's principles: valuing people, working together, integrity, making a difference, excellence
    • Must have submitted an application to study at the University of Dundee and have received an offer for a full-time, on-campus course
    • Must be required to pay international fees (not domestic)
    • Must not hold any other scholarships from the University of Dundee

University of Strathclyde - Excellence Scholarship

  • Scholarship award: €1,100 per year (covers equipment and study costs, living costs, travel costs)
  • Field of study: Computer and Information Sciences, Chemistry, Mathematics and Statistics, Physics, Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences
  • Scholarship requirements:
    • be a new undergraduate student who enters the University in the current academic year and achieve AAB or above at A Level (or equivalent)
    • pay the university tuition fee (around €10,000 per year)
    • match subject eligibility (check the )

Note: Scholarship payment is made in 3 instalments.

University College London Scholarships

ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñniversity College London offers different funding programs for international students. Two of these are:

UCL Global Undergraduate Scholarships

  • Number of scholarships: 30 (academic year 2023/2024)
  • Scholarship award: 10 awards of Full tuition fees and maintenance allowance, and 20 awards of Full tuition fees
  • Eligible subjects: all undergraduate programs
  • Scholarship requirements:
    • international fee rate only (not domestic)
    • come from a low-income background
    • submit an admission application for a full-time Undergraduate degree at UCL 
  • Selection criteria: need-based. The scholarships are meant to help international students from low-income backgrounds.

UCL Denys Holland Scholarship

  • Scholarship award: €10,000 per year (3 years in total), subject to satisfactory academic progress.
  • Eligibility: UK and overseas undergraduate students
  • Eligible subjects: all undergraduate programs
  • Scholarship requirements:
    • hold an offer of admission to UCL for a full-time undergraduate study in any department;
    • have a financial need;
    • demonstrate that they have broad interests and intend to be actively involved in and contribute to the life of the university
  • Selection criteria: need-based

Bristol University - Think Big Scholarships

Bristol University invests more than €500,000 to attract the brightest international students. Think Big Undergraduate scholarships are available for courses starting in 2023.

  • Scholarship awards: €7,500 and €15,000 per year, only towards the cost of tuition fees. Applicants may also be eligible to receive an additional €3,400 living cost bursary during their first year of study
  • Field of study: any full-time undergraduate program (except Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Science)
  • Scholarship requirements:
    • international fee rate only (not domestic)
    • enrolled in one of the university's full-time undergraduate programs
  • Standout features: By applying for this scholarship, you will be automatically considered for any other University of Bristol international scholarship you may be eligible for.

Lancaster University - Peel Trust Studentship

  • Number of scholarships: around 20 per year
  • Scholarship award: partial funding of up to €4,600
  • Eligibility: EU and Extra-EU students (UK students included)
  • Field of study: all subjects offered by the university
  • Period: the award is for one academic year, but students can apply each year
  • Scholarship requirements:
    • Applicants must be at least 21 years old
    • Good academic achievements
  • Selection criteria: based on academic merit and financial need

Note: the scholarship is paid in three term-based instalments, following satisfactory academic progression.

Scholarships funded by governmental bodies and external organizations

British Marshall Scholarship 

The Marshall Scholarship is dedicated to young Americans. It allows them to study in the UK and act as ambassadors between the USA and the UK.

  • Scholarship award: approximately €20,000 for tuition and fees, living allowance, fares between the U.S. and Britain and a book grant
  • Period: 2 years or more
  • Scholarship requirements:
    • US citizenship
    • hold their first undergraduate degree from an accredited four-year college or university in the United States
    • MinimumGPA (grade point average): 3.7
    • Haven't studied at, or don't already hold a degree or degree-equivalent qualification from a British university
  • Selection criteria: significant academic achievements and commitment of applicants to social good.

UK-India TOEFL Scholarship

ÃÛÌÒÓ°ÏñK-India TOEFL Scholarship is the result of a collaboration between the National Indian Students and Alumni Union (NISAU) and ETS TOEFL, providing scholarships to 25 Indian scholars enrolled in UK universities. 

  • Scholarship award: 2.4 Lakhs (covers university expenses, including but not limited to tuition, books, housing deposits, transportation)
  • Eligibility: Indian nationals
  • Scholarship requirements:
    • Applicants must be the citizens of India and have an offer letter from a university in the UK.
    • Candidates should have a TOEFL test score of 75 out of 120.
    • All the applicants must prove that they are genuine applicants, intending to study on a fee-paying undergraduate degree course.
    • Candidates must prove that this is the first time they have enrolled at UK university.

Educational Support Fund by Society For Underwater Technology

The Society for Underwater Technology’s Educational Support Fund offers sponsorship awards to excellent undergraduate students starting a degree in marine science and technology. 

  • Scholarship awards: €2,300 per year + Gold and Platinum prizes to outstanding students of the year.
  • Field of study: Marine Science, Underwater Technology & Offshore Engineering
  • Eligibility: all nationalities and ages
  • Scholarship requirements:
    • have a permission to proceed to the second or subsequent year of the relevant BS, BSc or BEng degree course;
    • OR a firm offer of a degree place at a university;
    • OR a provisional offer based on predicted examination results.

Major-specific scholarships

Engineering International Excellence Scholarships at University of Sheffield

  • University: University of Dundee
  • Scholarship award: up to €3,500, depending on your academic achievements
  • Eligibility: all nationalities except the UK
  • Field of study: Engineering
  • Scholarship requirements:
    • be an international applicant (paying the international fees)
    • applicants must have been offered a position in the School of Engineering (Departments: Automatic Control & Systems Engineering, Chemical & Biological Engineering, Civil & Structural Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace, Bioengineering, General Engineering)
  • Standout features:
    • once you obtain this scholarship, you will be awarded €1100 for each subsequent academic year if you maintain a 70% grade point average
    • the scholarship can be awarded in conjunction with other University of Sheffield scholarships (as long as the student does not receive a fully funded award for tuition fee purposes)

University Of Brighton Scholarships For Talented Sports Performers

  • University: University of Brighton
  • Fields of study: Sports

There are 2 types of scholarships available: 

Elite athletes / Elite Disabled Athletes Scholarships

  • Scholarship award: up to €1,100 per academic year
  • Requirements:
    • have reached a national level of competition or performance and have the potential to reach a world-class performance level in your sport
    • be accepted into a University of Brighton course or be a current student in the university or a directly funded course at a partner college

Talented Sports Performers Scholarship

  • Scholarship award: up to €580 per academic year
  • Requirements:
    • have represented a sport at national or regional level or be able to demonstratethe potential to compete at these levels
    • be accepted into a University of Brighton course or be a current student of the university

Newtons’ Undergraduate Scholarship in Mathematics

  • University: University of Surrey
  • Fields of study: Mathematics
  • Scholarship award: €3,500 per year (up to 3 years) plus €1,000 for a Professional Training placement (if taken)
  • Eligibility: all nationalities
  • Scholarship requirements:
    • be a first-year student studying an undergraduate level any subject/s led by the Department of Mathematics at the University of Surrey
    • have family income of no more than €40,000
    • maintain an average grade of 60% or higher throughout the course

Rapid Formations Entrepreneur Scholarship Programme 2023

  • Funded by: Rapid Formation 
  • Scholarship award: €580 for a total of 20 scholarships in total, awarded on a competitive basis who show academic excellence and/or entrepreneurial potential. The funding may be used for any purpose related to the advancement of study.
  • Eligibility: All nationalities
  • Fields of study: Entrepreneurship, Business
  • Scholarship requirements:
    • the major should be related to Business or Business Management
    • an offer (and a letter of acceptance) for an undergraduate program at a recognized institution of higher education in the UK.
    • An 800-words essay explaining how the scholarship could help you work toward or develop your entrepreneurial idea.
  • Deadline: in August

Privately funded scholarships

The Mary Trevelyan Hardship Fund

Introduced by the International Students House (ISH), this scholarship is made available to either international students in London or any full-time student who are a resident at ISH.

  • Scholarship award: from €450 to €700, depending on individual circumstances
  • Scholarship requirements:
    • Studying full-time at a recognized Higher Education Institution in London
    • Be in financial need due to unexpected circumstances
    • Be either an ISH resident (of any nationality) OR a non-British student at an Institution that holds membership with ISH

Dialog Award For Female Undergraduates

The scholarship supports female students in Electronic-related fields attending the first year of leading UK universities.

  • Scholarship awards:
    • A one-off bursary of €1,700
    • A paid summer work placement (min. 6 weeks) in various locations
    • A paid-for student membership of Women’s Engineering Society (WES) for all the duration of the degree
  • Scholarship requirements:
    • Be a female student due to start an Electronics, Computer Science, or related engineering course in September
    • Have an offer to study at one of UKESF’s .


Kitchener Scholarship

The scholarships awarded by the Lord KitchenerNational Memorial Fund (LKNMF)are higher education grants for members of the armed forces and their families.

  • Number of scholarships: maximum of 25 scholarships
  • Scholarship award: around €1700, to be determined by the Council
  • Eligibility: all nationalities
  • Scholarship requirements:
    • At least one parent that has served in the British Armed Forces.
    • You have been accepted for an undergraduate course at a British university.

OR

  • You have served in the military yourself, and you're under 30.
  • You have been accepted for an undergraduate course at a British university.

In all cases, applicants should demonstrate a record of academic and personal achievement and the potential for future development.

Note: Deadline for application is May 31st of every academic year for courses starting in September/October of the same year.
